Million dollar ideas.
“Ideas are dime a dozen. It’s execution that counts” – Frank Herbert.
Most of the million dollar ideas come to us in our college dormitory.
Be it Google, Microsoft Apple or Facebook, every billion dollar organization started with a dream of achieving something big during their college days. Availability of space, capital, workforce or the dearth of the same were never given emphasis, thanks to our obsession with the ‘million dollar dream’.
More than often schools know it too and are helping students pave their own path towards the world of entrepreneurial-ism by providing them with relevant connections and support.
India is still in its nascent stage in the startup ecosystem but has been seeing a radical shift since the last decade. India does not have enough angel investors or capitalists who are keen on putting their money on young unproven adults, but that sure hasn’t stopped them from following their dreams.
Thanks to this zeal and enthusiasm, there have been innumerable startups by fresh college students or graduates which have become successful in the dynamic market. Numerous individuals like Kailash Katkar (QuickHeal), Ritesh Agarwal (Ola), Kunal Shah (Freecharge), Azhar Iqubal (News in Shorts), Rahul Yadav (Housing.com) are just some of the examples that we have in front of us.
In this rising ecosystem of Startups, India has also introduced and revamped multiple laws to make it convenient for the budding entrepreneurs.
The security laws, labor laws, intellectual property laws, IT laws, contract laws among others are some of the aspects that are to be kept in mind by everyone who wishes to establish an organization. While the laws are helpful for ones who wish to dive into the deep sea of legal aspects, they also help in streamlining the objectives of an organization.
Though these facets focus on the how one can start their own venture, emphasis must also be laid on how one must fight the odds to keep their dream alive. Having said all of this, it is evident that college is the perfect place to pursue your dreams, thanks to the availability of time, human capital and support from the college.
So what are you waiting for? Go chase your dream, and tell us about it.
